NORTHERN NISHNAWBE EDUCATION COUNCIL
Northern Nishnawbe Education Council is a not for profit educational
organization. Under the direction of the Sioux Lookout Area Chiefs, NNEC
delivers secondary and post secondary education programs and services
for First Nations people.
NNEC invites applications for the following position at the Pelican Falls
First Nations High School;
1.0 SOCIAL COUNSELLOR
GENERAL
The Social Counsellor will provide an array of counselling and referral
services to NNEC’s secondary students, under the direction of the
PFFNHS Principal or designate. This person must have proven expertise
in social work and mental health issues. The Social Counsellor must be
sensitive to First Nations culture and traditions and must have excellent
communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. This individual
will be highly motivate and be available to work flexible hours. The Social
Counsellor will advance the mandate and mission of the Northern
Nishnawbe Education Council.
QUALIFICATIONS
Social Work Degree with a minimum of two (2) year’s direct service and
counselling adolescents; or
Member of an accredited professional organization (RSW)
Word-processing proficiency; experience with Microsoft Word, WP
A cooperative attitude when working with First Nations, students, public
and staff
Fluency in one of the Sioux Lookout area dialects an asset but not
essential
Valid Ontario’s Driver’s license and own vehicle with appropriate liability
insurance
LOCATION: Pelican Falls First Nations High School
Sioux Lookout, Ontario
